On January 10, Buzzfeed published an “unverified” and error ridden document making some interesting claims about the incoming president of the United States.

The 35-page document accused Donald Trump of having a long relationship with Russia, conspiring with the Kremlin to take down his political opponents, and continuing to work with them over five years because of massive amounts of blackmail on Mr. Trump.

The news that caught everyone’s eye and that has been trending on Twitter since the article was published is “Golden Showers” — or what is now being called “Golden Showergate.” This section will be a direct quote from the document; it is disturbing and should not be read by children.

“Trumps (perverted) conduct in Moscow included hiring the presidential suite at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, where he knew the President and MRS. OBAMA (whom he hated) had stayed… and defiling the bed where they had slept by employing a number of prostitutes to perform ‘golden showers’ (urination) show in front of him.”

What’s interesting about these claims is not only that the editor of the article made a point to go through multiple times and reaffirm that these are unverified claims, but, there may be a hint as to where these accusations came from.

Not long after the piece was published, the political board on 4chan, called /pol/, began blowing up. Their responses to the story mysteriously sounded like kids who took a prank too far, which, it turns out, may be exactly what happened.

Confusion and anger has made it’s way into both political parties. There has been proof that Michael Cohen, Trump’s lawyer, who is accused of meeting with the Kremlin in Prague was not only not in Prague at the time claimed, but he actually had not left the United States anywhere near the time that he is accused of.

Hours after the hit piece made the news, Donald Trump began a Twitter rant (again) at one point mentioning what Russia had to say about the whole incident.

He went on to call out Buzzfeed and other mainstream media sources reporting the story as absolute truth.

The day after these documents were released, Donald Trump gave a press conference, where he and his press secretary made his feelings toward the whole situation very clear.

Spicer called Buzzfeed a “left wing” organization that dropped “salacious reports”. He went on to say, “The fact that Buzzfeed and CNN decided to run this is a sad and pathetic attempt to get clicks.”
