Ivanka Trump was verbally berated by a passenger on a JetBlue flight this morning, TMZ reported.
The president-elect’s daughter was flying coach out of JFK in New York City with her three children and other family members. Ivanka Trump was on her way to spend the Christmas holidays with the rest of the Trump family at their Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
According to the TMZ report, a man began yelling at her and “jeering” at her young children. He reportedly told her, “Your father is ruining the country.”
He additionally berated her for flying coach rather than flying privately. Daily Mail eventually identified the man as Dan Goldstein, a Brooklyn attorney.
Before boarding the flight, Goldstein’s husband, Matthew Lasner, tweeted:
“Ivanka and Jared at JFK T5, flying commercial. My husband chasing them down to harass them. #banalityofevil”
JetBlue staff escorted Goldstein off the flight and made the following statement:
The decision to remove a customer from a flight is not taken lightly. If the crew determines that a customer is causing conflict on the aircraft, the customer will be asked to deplane, especially if the crew feels the situation runs the risk of escalation during flight. Our team worked to re-accommodate the party on the next available flight.
After being removed from the flight, Goldstein claimed to media that he was being punished for expressing free speech. Another passenger reported to TMZ that Ivanka Trump initially ignored the harassment as she encouraged her young children to play quietly next to her.
