In 1979, Art Sawyer worked relentlessly to promote pro-life values in the blue state of Maryland.
He began this tradition by organizing a an annual march in Annapolis. More than 30 years later, this has become a major event on the pro-life calendar.
HB 1083 is being pushed through the Maryland General Assembly, which would establish a “Family Planning Program” in the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH). In the event of Planned Parenthood losing national funding, Maryland democrats are pushing this legislation to allow state funding for family planning services, which may include abortion.
While Title X does not allow federal funding for abortion services, this bill could potentially allocate state funds for exactly that. Maryland has had a historic internal struggle dealing with this issue, and the passing of this bill would be detrimental to pro-lifers across America.
On Monday, April 3rd, hundreds will be marching, celebrating life, and opposing HB 1083 at the Maryland March for Life.
The schedule is as follows:
5:30-6:00 pm – Arrive in St. Mary’s church parking lot
6:15 pm – Assemble for march
6:30 pm – March through Annapolis
7:00 pm – Rally at Lawyer’s Mall
8:00 pm – Free Chick-Fil-A
