Private University Spends $121 Million On A ‘Plan For Inclusive Excellence’

American University is spending $121 million on a “Plan for Inclusive Excellence,” which includes a mandatory year of training around “exploring and expressing identities,” “diversity, bias and privilege” and “race and social identity,” The College Fix reported.

The private university will focus on “uncomfortable ways” that class, disability, religion, gender and sexual expression are considered in classrooms, and students will learn “structures of culture and power as well as social movements that challenge those structures.”

While the university says this training is not a result of any particular incident, officials say there were several considered racially charged.

According to a survey last spring, only 33 percent of African American students said they felt included, along with 71 percent of white students, and 60 percent of Hispanic, Asian and international students, according to The Eagle.
