One week following the attack of Hayden Williams, the Turning Point USA activist tabling for the organization at UC Berkeley, the organization’s founder Charlie Kirk visited the campus.
Breitbart reports, “Turning Point USA (TPUSA) Founder and Executive Director Charlie Kirk arrived at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) on Tuesday to visit the TPUSA student members whose group was recently subjected to physical violence on campus.”
UC Berkeley was once famously known as the birthplace of the Freedom of Speech Movement in the 1960s. Now, according to Breitbart, the university “appears to have become a haven of militant opposition against conservative students and visitors expressing views that fall outside of Leftist Groupthink.”
When on campus, Kirk lead many TPUSA activists in recruitment. These conservative students “remain[ed] unafraid amid apparent politically-motivated violence, despite the incident that left fellow activist Hayden Williams with a black eye…”
Kirk and the TPUSA members held up signs that read “Hate Crime Hoaxes Hurt Real Victims,” ironically the same sign that Williams was punched in the face for. Kirk tweeted that Tuesday he was “with brave students at @UCBerkeley, where an ACTUAL hate crime took place last week, yet it received virtually ZERO coverage.” The group was also holding signs that read “The Berkeley Community Condones Hate Crimes (It’s Not Ok)” and “Your Leftist Fascism Won’t Silence Us.”

That Friday, the TPUSA activists “returned to the site where the assault had occurred to continue recruiting members for their group,” Breitbart states.
