Katy Perry: Trump’s win triggered a lot of fear and emotion

Katy Perry was among many celebrities to campaign with Hillary Clinton during the election. Perry hosted a concert for the Clinton campaign directly before the election, in hopes to gain the youth vote. In a recent post on Instagram, Perry ranted about her sadness and disgust of Trumps win. She states,

The last time I was in NYC was for Election Night. I left covered in a blanket of sadness and despair because for me, and I imagine others, the results triggered a lot of dormant fears and emotions to the surface. I feared that we were not ever going to see the light of justice or fairness. I felt vulnerable, confused and frightened like a child.

In the post, Perry does not say what her fears of a Trump presidency are specifically or why she feels vulnerable. She goes on to say that Hillary Clinton gave her a voice that she never had before. Stating that she was silent before because she felt that she would say something wrong or it would be clear that she was uneducated. Hillary Clinton took all those fears away for her and she suddenly had a voice.

Perry is apparently unaware of the strong lack of effect that she or any celebrity had on the election, so she continues to say she will try again next year,

I am continually inspired by her strength and how she continues to rise like the Phoenix she is, every time. It’s funny, sometimes people who disagree with me just say, “Shut up and sing.” Boy, will I do so in a whole new way… next year. Hell hath no fury like a woman REBORN.
