Merry Christmas to Lebron James

With the stockings hung and eggnog in hand, NBA fans across our nation are ready for the glory that is Christmas Day. A day dedicated to family. A day of rest. Time devoted to covering the living room floor with wrapping paper of every pattern and color. A day foreign to NBA superstar, Lebron James.

While fans lounge on their couches spreading Christmas cheer, James will be lacing up for his 11th straight Christmas Day exhibition, as the defending Finals Champions Cleveland Calvaliers face their arch-rivals, the Golden State Warriors. In a showdown which may mirror this season’s NBA Finals, the 22-6 Cavs will face a Warriors team with a favorable record, and a noticeably fortified defensive mindset.

When asked in 2010 about his holiday commitment, James noted, ““If you ask any player in the league, we’d rather be home with our families.” Being the father of two, 12 year old Lebron Jr. and 10 year old Bryce, James has consistently expressed regret for his inability to be with his children on Christmas morning. “…We have no traditions. If I can get a home game on Christmas, then we’ll have a tradition,” James further commented.

In what seems to be a Christmas Miracle, Cleveland will host Golden State at Quicken Loans Arena Sunday, with tip-off expected at 2:30pm Eastern Time. Having surpassed Hakeem Alujawon, Elgin Hayes, and most recently Moses Malone this season to become the 8th most scoring player in NBA history, the least James deserves this holiday season is a much needed Christmas morning with his family.

Empowered by the spirit of Christmas, the King may gift NBA fans with a performance for the ages. A performance perhaps, plentiful with tomahawk jams.

Merry Christmas, Lebron.
