Trump slams Schwarzenegger on Twitter for ‘Apprentice’ ratings

President-elect Donald Trump slammed Arnold Schwarzenegger on Twitter Friday for the below-average ratings as the new host of “The Celebrity Apprentice.”

Schwarzenegger’s first episode as the show’s host aired Monday, and the new series premiere averaged about 4.9 million viewers.

The new host responded to Trump’s attacks, tweeting “There’s nothing more important than the people’s work”. He added, “I wish you the best of luck and I hope you’ll work for ALL of the American people as aggressively as you worked for your ratings.”

Trump’s attacks seem to be a strange move.  Not only is he the former host of the reality TV show, but he has also kept his title as executive producer for it, so he could still be profiting off of the show.

When “The Apprentice” debuted in 2004, it was an instant hit.  Trump’s first show had about 18.5 million viewers.

Unfortunately for the self-proclaimed “ratings machine,”  his final season premiere as host, which was two years ago, averaged only 6.5 million viewers.  The show had lost nearly 12 million viewers since the first series premier.  That means Trump ended with only 1.6 million more viewers than Schwarzenegger began with.

Trump concluded his insults toward Schwarzenegger tweeting, “who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary.”

Schwarzenegger, the former Republican governor of California, supported Ohio Gov. John Kasich in the 2016 Republican primary and said that he could not support Donald Trump in the general election.
