A joint session of Congress officially certified Donald Trump as the winner of the Electoral College on Friday. During the vote count, several House Democrats objected the vote tally, but their efforts were stopped by Vice President Joe Biden.

Biden repeatedly told the objecting members of congress that their objections were invalid because they failed to obtain a signature from a United States Senator. At one point, a seemingly annoyed Biden commented, “It is over,” — resulting in laughter from his Republican colleagues.

“There is no debate. There is no debate. There is no debate,” Biden insisted, pounding the gavel to silence Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, one of the frequent objectors.

The congressmen that protested the Electoral Votes were from states like Texas, North Carolina, and Michigan and were alleging that issues such as “voter suppression” and “Russian hacking” influenced the election.

“We thought it was very important that we at least acknowledge the obvious,” Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) told reporters after the count.

“The obvious was that there were absolute violations, absolute failures in the democratic process in the 2016 election and most hideous and most glaring was the documented intrusion of Vladimir Putin in the 2016 election for one candidate over another.”

While the vote was certified, Biden ordered security to remove at least three protesters shouting form the balcony in the chamber.

Republican Senator John Cornyn said that the protests were “kind of embarrassing.”

President-elect Donald Trump received 304 electoral votes, and Hillary Clinton received 227, while six “faithless” electors voted for other candidates.

Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 45th President of the United States on January 20th.
